Thanks to patch 1.58, the compass or directional indicator now matches the grid coordinate system used on planets and moons. We are continuing to work on re-plotting the benchmark locations on planet Jojal Zen[i], as well as using aerial photos of the planet to determine the best distance and resolution for use with maps. Much of this work is being done by Conscrit who has an excellent working knowledge of Geographic Information System mapping and has been very helpful in explaining how to best map a planet using this technology. Here is an example of the work Conscrit is doing:

HoosierVic on PS4 and ShadowedJunichi on Xbox have also confirmed that star systems, planets and their grid coordinate systems are identical across platforms. Structures and locations discovered at those coordinates on PC are exactly the same on Xbox and PS4. This allows everyone in the NMSCS to contribute and participate in all the mapping projects and experiments regardless of what platform they use.

Our first aerial reconnaissance map of a portion of planet Jojal Zen is in the works and we hope to have it published by the end of the week.
